April 20, 2024: There were problems with the water wheel. The long axle could not support the water wheel unhindered, bent and led to a temporary standstill. Due to the complaint to the builder, a new, stronger axle with an additional wall bearing was installed in a joint effort on April 18/19. The mill wheel is now running again.


17.04.2024: The purpose of the funding decision has been achieved. This has now been confirmed by the district government after an on-site inspection. June 13, 2023: The beautification work inside the church will be completed shortly. The edges of the pillars and the vault ridges were painted by a church painter in such a way that corner stones appear to protrude there. Work is currently underway to reattach the pulpit to the first pillar. It had been there for centuries before it was moved to the corner of the chancel.

01.06.2023: After the organ has been cleaned, organ concerts can soon take place again in St. Nicholas Church. The first concert of the year will take place on June 18, 2023 at 5 p.m. You can find the flyer here.


05/31/2023: On June 22nd, the installation of the church lighting in the dormer area will be supplemented by a roofing company and missing cables will be installed.


April 28, 2023: The organ has been completely dismantled for cleaning purposes. While the organ builder is still working on it, the painting work is progressing well. The church is expected to be usable again on June 17/18.


April 20, 2023: Steles with illustrated information are in the works. These are intended to provide visitors to the monastery grounds with clear information. A small pocket-sized booklet (pocket guide) is also being produced, which provides further information on a good 40 pages.


03/20/2023: On March 18, the water inlet had already been piped. In a work effort by several club members, the channel was extended uphill, connected to the water system and a roof was prepared.


0March 8, 2023: According to the water law permit that has now been obtained, the water running off the lower monastery pond will now be channeled to the mill wheel via a new pipe. This will save monthly costs of 35 euros. At the same time, the channel will be extended uphill.


22.02.2023: Work effort at Rumbeck Monastery:

The Rumbeck Village and Monastery Association is asking for your help.

The lighting project, for which the district government has provided funding, is currently to be continued. To do this, it is now necessary to concrete additional brackets for recessed floor lights in the monastery's inner courtyard. Cables are also to be pulled and laid in the roof structure so that the dormers can soon be illuminated. A switch box is also now being installed behind the organ.

The work will be carried out on Saturday, March 4th and Saturday, March 11th from 9am The board of the support association hopes for active support.

03.01.2023: The new year is off to a good start: The association now has the long-awaited approval to operate the mill wheel with the water that flows out of the pond above it anyway. This surplus will then no longer flow unused into the stream, but will be diverted via the mill wheel. After the necessary and subsidized conversion work, the provisionally installed pump can then be switched off. This will save monthly electricity costs of around 30 euros.

28.09.2022: On October 4th, 2022 at 9 a.m. the convent coffee shop opens in the former sheep barn of Rumbeck Monastery. Benita Botta is starting up her new business in this part of the monastery. Hikers on the Rumbeck Monastery Economics Trail can now also rest in the new meeting point for the people of Rumbeck and Oeventrop. At the same time, old printing machines are on display.
