Gem: Hinrich Klausing Organ

A gem: The Hinrich Klausing organ

On the gallery of the monastery church of St. Nicholas in Rumbeck stands the organ built in 1700 by the famous Herford Organ builder Hinrich Klausing.

Hinrich Klausing is one of the outstanding organ builders of the 17th and 18th centuries. More than 100 organs were built in his workshop. Unfortunately, only a few instruments from this period have survived.

With History and handling This special instrument deals with Thomas Nobody for many years lovingly and intensively. He has also wrote a comprehensive report in 2000.

The gallery on which the precious instrument stands used to extend further into the church and was directly connected to the sisters' cloistered rooms. There is evidence that there was an organ in the monastery church as early as 1658.

In 1700, the Herford organ builder Hinrich Klausing built a new organ for the Rumbeck sisters. He used essential parts of the earlier instrument.

Particularly impressive is the

, built around 1700 by Hinrich Klausing. Some of the organ's pipes date back to the 15th century. This gives the organ a very special value.

The organ was also affected by the mold infestation in the church in 2022-2023. It had to be dismantled and cleaned again in 2023. It will be operational again on June 18, 2023.

The first organ concert of the year will also take place on this day.
