06/13/2023: The beautification work inside the church will be completed shortly. The edges of the pillars and the ridges of the vaults were painted by a church painter in such a way that corner stones are evident there. Work is currently underway to reattach the pulpit to the first pillar. It had been there for centuries before it was moved to the corner of the sanctuary.


17.06.2023: An error crept into the Westfalenpost report: The Sunday concert starts at 5 p.m (not 6 p.m.).

06/15/2023: The monastery church is open again after the cleaning work on the walls and organ has been completed. Here is the press report.


06/11/2023: This year's General Assembly will take place on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at 7 p.m in the Christophorus home.


06/01/2023: After the cleaning of the organ, organ concerts will soon be able to take place again in the St. Nikolaus Church. The first concert of this year will take place on June 18, 2023 at 5 p.m. You can find the flyer here.


05/31/2023: On 06/22 the installation of the church lighting in the area of the dormers is supplemented by a roofing company and missing cables are installed.


April 28, 2023: The organ has been completely disassembled for cleaning purposes. While the organ builder is still working on it, the painting work is progressing well. Probably on 17./18. 06. the church can be used again.


April 20th, 2023: Steles with illustrated information are in progress. These are intended to provide visitors to the monastery grounds with clear information. There is also a small pocket-sized booklet (Pocket Guide) that provides more detailed information on a good 40 pages.


03/20/2023: On 03/18 the water supply was already piped. In a work effort by several members of the association, the channel was extended uphill, connected to the water system and a roof was prepared.


0March 8th, 2023: In accordance with the water law approval that has now been obtained, the water running off from the lower monastery pond is now being routed to the mill wheel via a new pipe. This can save monthly costs of 35 euros. At the same time, the channel is extended uphill.


02/22/2023: work assignment at Rumbeck Monastery:

The Förderverein Dorf und Kloster Rumbeck eV asks for help.

The lighting project, for which the district government has provided funding, is currently to be continued. For this purpose it is now necessary to concrete additional brackets for recessed floor lights in the courtyard of the monastery. Furthermore, cables are to be pulled and laid in the roof truss in order to be able to illuminate the dormers in the near future. In addition, a control box is now placed behind the organ.

The work will take place on Saturday, March 4th and Saturday, March 11th from 9 a.m . The board of directors hopes for active support.


01/25/2023: The Rumbeck Church is closed during the work in the church closed.


01/12/2023: The Rumbeck church has suffered from moisture for a long time. This caused mold to form throughout the interior. The mold has attacked walls, figures and the organ. The cleaning work has now begun.


05.01.2023: The Arnsberger Heimatbund has published Heimatblatt 43-2022. It includes an article by Jochem Ottersbach that beautifully illustrates the Rumbeck monastery hike describes. The above booklet is available in bookshops.


01/03/2023: The new year is off to a good start: the support association has now received the long-awaited approval to operate the mill wheel with the water that flows out of the pond above anyway. This surplus then no longer flows unused into the stream, but is diverted via the mill wheel. After the necessary and subsidized conversion work, the temporarily installed pump can then be switched off. This saves about 30 euros in monthly electricity costs.

12/20/2022: The "forest cultural landscape" has been proclaimed as Cultural Monument of the Year 2023 . This was recently announced by the Cultural Landscape Forum at the BHU (Federal Association for Nature, Homeland and the Environment). This also crowns the Rumbecker way to the monastery economy as an outstanding element of the cultural landscape. ( See the Westfalenpost press report )


09/28/2022: On October 4th, 2022 at 9 a.m. the Konvent-Kaffee opens in the former sheepfold of the Rumbeck monastery. Benita Botta started her new company in this part of the monastery. In the new meeting point of the Rumbecker and Oeventroper population, the hikers of the Rumbecker Klosterwirtschafts-Weg can now rest. At the same time, old printing machines are on display. 07/17/2022: The next one work assignment for the laying of cables for the lighting of the walls will take place on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 9 a.m . If you have a spade, pickaxe and/or shovel, please bring it with you.


06/03/2022: The water wheel turns after the channel has been installed and the water is provisionally directed there with the help of a pump. The resulting electricity costs of approx. 35 euros per month will become superfluous as soon as we have the final water law permit to use the overflowing water from the large monastery pond. June 1st, 2022: The next work assignment at the monastery is to take place on Saturday, July 30th, 2022. This involves further earthwork for the lighting, this time in the monastery courtyard. Please make a note of the date for possible assistance.


05/31/2022: The water wheel is stuck! With precision work, the men brought the mill wheel into position.


May 27, 2022: The Arnsberg monastery route starts at Rumbeck monastery and connects eight sacred places in the city area. It was created to explore these places by bike. May 25, 2022: Since May 23, 2022, work has been going on to install the mill wheel specially designed for the grain mill on the building. Will the foundation walls of the sawmill appear during the work? Pictures of the work can be found here.


04.05.2022: A Madonna (size approx. 70 cm) was donated to Rumbeck Monastery. It was probably given to a neighboring farm when the monastery was dissolved in 1804 and has now been returned. It can be assumed that other figurative objects from the monastery can be found in the vicinity. The public is asked to help locate it. This does not necessarily mean a change of ownership. However, we are interested in tracking down and documenting art objects from the former monastery.


05/03/2022: This year's general meeting will take place on August 22, 2022 at 7 p.m.


May 2nd, 2022: The work assignment was very successful. Eight employees and a mini excavator managed to lay cables and install pots on the east and north sides. The paving is better than before.


April 29, 2022: The local press reported on our current projects (Sauerland courier and Westfalenpost).

The association asks for active help on Saturday, April 30th, 2022, 9 a.m. Please bring shovels, pickaxes and spades.

On this day, empty pipes and underground cables as well as the pots for the ground spotlights are to be brought into the ground.



04/07/2022: The Board of Directors invites you to public board meeting on Monday, May 2nd, 2022. Guests are welcome.


04/05/2022: The material for lighting the monastery area (floor lights and window sills) is complete. Manual work is required for the installation. For this reason, the association is asking for active help on Saturday, April 30th, 2022, 9 a.m. Please bring shovels, pickaxes and spades. On this day, empty pipes and underground cables as well as the pots for the ground spotlights are to be brought into the ground.

April 5, 2022: Five steles are to be erected in the monastery area. Information is installed on the steel plates (40 cm wide, 200 cm high) to explain individual areas of the monastery (church, cloister, prioress house, provost, guest house, monastery property, monastery life, etc.). Images, texts and QR codes for further sources should provide extensive information. The order for the content processing was given to Dr. Herrmanns, who has already done similar work successfully at the Wedinghausen monastery.


April 2nd, 2022: In the area in front of the wall of ruins, the city of Arnsberg removed the ground cover and replaced it with chippings. Now the wall (if necessary) can be secured and sealed.
