Provost's office and guest house

Today, guest houses in monasteries are popular places to get away from everyday life. Peace and meditation, yoga courses or artistic work weeks are very popular. Things used to be completely different! On the one hand, the guest house of a monastery took on the function of today's hotels by offering travelers, members of the order and pilgrims the opportunity to stay overnight. On the other hand, it was open to those seeking protection and the sick, who found personal acceptance and help here.

The seclusion of the choir sisters in their cloister had to be maintained, of course, and so the guest house of the Rumbeck monastery was built under Provost Bigeleben in 1695 to the north, adjacent to the provost's house. After the monastery was dissolved, the former guest house was used by the state forestry administration until 1972.
