Kornhaus

Information about the Kornhaus

The Granary formed the öEastern wing of the monastery. It was rebuilt in 1730 and extended from the choir of the church to the south wing. It was connected to the south wing by a continuous roof covering. Due to the slightly sloping terrain to the north, the northern half of this house had a large basement. A gate in the north wall allowed carts to drive into the building. The year's harvest was stored here and probably also in the roof.

The southern part of the east wing and the upper floors were home to lay nuns. These were women who wanted to live in the monastery but had not taken vows. On the ground floor, a dividing wall ran lengthways through the building, so it can be assumed that a cloister belonging to the strict cloister area ran towards the inner courtyard. In the course of secularization in 1804, this building was added to the Rumbeck estate and sold.

In 1914, a fire broke out in the roof structure, completely destroying the east and south wings.
